CROSS CHARLOTTE TRAIL UPDATE

Here's an update on the County-managed segments of the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, which is part of the Cross Charlotte Trail.

Little Sugar Creek Greenway: Tyvola Road to Huntingtowne Farms Park - ​One bridge has been installed and a tie-in to the future Brandywine-to-Tyvola segment of the Cross Charlotte Trail has been cleared. Grading and wall construction are underway for the Archdale Drive and Tyvola Road underpasses. In late summer/early fall 2017, the other two bridges will be placed. Surface paving will take place along the completed section. Construction is expected to be complete in early- to mid-2018.​This segment is currently under construction by Mecklenburg County, with the section from Tyvola Road to Archdale Road almost complete.

  • Little Sugar Creek Greenway/XCLT Community WorkshopThe Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Greenway Advisory County will host a community information session on Wednesday, July 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the Starmount Academy of Excellence multimedia center (7300 Starbrook Drive, Charlotte, NC 28210). It's your chance to provide input on the design and construction of the section that runs through the Starmount neighborhood and Huntingtowne Farms Park. This proposed greenway will provide connections to the Cross Charlotte Trail and the Carolina Thread Trail.

Little Sugar Creek Greenway: Huntingtowne Farms Park to I-485 - Construction is expected to begin in August 2017 and complete in mid-2019.​

Little Sugar Creek Greenway: I-485 to the President James K. Polk State Historic Site ​Design plans are 75 percent complete. The project is expected to go out for bid by spring 2018. Construction is projected to begin in the summer 2018 and last  approximately 18 months. A public meeting is being planned for the fall of 2017. Meeting details will be posted on the project web page and on the Citywide Events Calendar​ and will be shared via postcard to nearby residents and to subscribers via the NotifyMe service.​the NotifyMe service.
