Summer is the preferred time of year for installing many of
our BMP wetland plantings. Planting at
the right time of year can have a significant positive effect on root
establishment and plant survival. Wherever
possible, those plantings should take place during the next few months. If BMP
ponds can be built to completion and planted now, it can head off potential
delays with releasing bonds and holds when it comes time to finalize your
project!

In December 2015, Mecklenburg County’s Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA) relocated to a new facility at 2145 Suttle Ave. Technology has allowed LUESA to go completely paperless. This provided an excellent opportunity to combine the Storm Water Floodplain review with the City of Charlotte’s plan and recorded plat review process.
Starting July 1, 2017, when you download your plans to the Accela system, you can include the Floodplain Development Permit Application and flood study (if applicable). The Storm Water Review Fee will still be received and processed within the Storm Water Dept. Contact Melonee Brock (980-722-8470 or melonee.brock@mecklenburgcountync.gov) to get information on payment options or with any questions or concerns.
Disturbance in the FEMA Floodway and Community Encroachment Area requiring a flood study will be reviewed by David Goode. All other floodplain reviews will be completed by Melonee Brock or Jonathan Beller.
