November 11: Happy Veteran's Day

November 12: Charlotte Marathon (formerly Thunder Road Marathon)

The Novant Health Charlotte Marathon is Saturday, November 12 at 7:30 a.m. at Romare Bearden Park, 300 South Church Street. This popular event, formerly the Thunder Road Marathon, Half-Marathon & 5K, involves numerous street and lane closures along the marathon route. The marathon will begin at South Graham Street at 7:30 a.m. It follows a course through the Dilworth, Myers Park, South End, Third Ward, Belmont, NoDa, Plaza-Midwood, Chantilly, Elizabeth, and Second Ward neighborhoods. The race will finish on South Mint Street. Traffic delays should be expected along the marathon route. Visit Charlotte Marathon for more information.

November 17: Thursday Night Football Mint Street Stage

Staging for the NFL Productions for the Carolina Panthers game on November 17 will begin on November 16. Mint Street will be closed from Stonewall/Graham to Morehead Street from Wednesday, November 16 at 6 p.m. until Friday, November 18 at 5 a.m. Motorists should expect delays.


November 19: Health Guidance 5K

The event begins on Saturday, November 19 at 8 a.m. at the Johnson YMCA on North Davidson Street. Event organizers expect 250 attendees. The route will use North Davidson Street, Anderson Street, Spencer Street, East 36th Street, North Alexander Street, East 32nd Street, Yadkin Avenue, East 34th Street, North McDowell Street, East 35th Street and Charles Avenue. November 19: Hopebuilders 5K

The event begins on Saturday, November 19 at 8 a.m. at Carolinas Medical Center. Event organizers expect 900 attendees. The route will begin and end between Brunswick Avenue and Ardsley Road. November 19: Let Me Run FallFest

The race will begin at Saturday, November 19 at 9 a.m. at Whitehall Business Park. Event organizers expect 1,200 participants. The course uses Arco Corporate Drive and Whitehall Park Drive. Visit Let Me Run FallFest 5K for more information.

November 19: St. Jude 5K Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer

The event begins Saturday, November 19 at 9:30 a.m. at Marshall Park. Event organizers expect 1,300 participants. The route uses East 4th Street, South Kings Drive, East 3rd Street, Baxter Street, South McDowell Street, and South College Street. November 23: 3rd Annual Carolina Panthers' Tree Lighting

The lighting of the tree will take place on Wednesday, November 23 at 6 p.m. on the corner of Mint Street and Graham Street. Event organizers expect 6,000 attendees. Graham Street from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Mint Street and Mint Street from 1st Street to Morehead Street will close at 9:30 a.m. and reopen at 11 p.m. Visit Carolina Panthers’ Tree Lighting for more information. 


November 24: Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade

The 70th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, at Stonewall Street and South Tryon Street. The parade will continue north on Tryon Street to 9th Street where it will disperse. Event organizers expect 40,000 attendees.  

Street Closures:

  • Trade Street at the square, Hill Street and Stonewall Street: Thursday, November 24 at 6 a.m. until Thursday, November 24 at 2 p.m.
  • Phifer Avenue: Thursday, November 24 at 6 a.m. until Thursday, November 24 at 6 p.m.
  • The parade route (Tryon Street) and cross streets close on route from Morehead Street to 10th Street: Thursday, November 24 at 9 a.m. until Thursday, November 24 at 2 p.m.

November 24: Charlotte Turkey Trot at SouthPark

The one mile run begins at 8:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, on Morrison Boulevard. The 8K and 5K will follow. Event organizers expect 8,500 attendees. The 8K route includes Morrison Boulevard, Carnegie Boulevard, Barclay Downs Drive, Runnymede Lane, Colony Road, Wheelock Road, Richardson Drive, Ferncliff Road, Sharon Road and Roxborough Road. The 5K route includes Morrison Boulevard, Carnegie Boulevard, Barclay Downs Drive, Runnymede Lane, Colony Road, Roxborough Road and South Park Drive. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 24 at Village at Robinson Farms on Williams Pond Road between Elm Lane and Rea Road. Event organizers expect 1,500 participants. The route starts and finishes at Village at Robinson Farm. The 4-mile run uses Rea Road, Ardrey Kell Road, Blakeney Heath Road and Parks Farm Lane. November 26: Holiday On Ice Tree Lighting

The tree lighting ceremony for the Christmas Tree at Holiday On Ice at the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza is Saturday, November 26 at 5 p.m. Event organizers expect 5,000 attendees. East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between South Brevard Street and South Caldwell Street will be closed from noon until 8 p.m. Visit Holiday on Ice for more information.
