Charlotte Water: New Plan Review and Inspection Fees Begin July 1, 2016

Effective July 1, 2016, Charlotte Water will begin implementing fees for backflow prevention reviews, backflow prevention inspections, subdivision project initiation, subdivision plan reviews, and subdivision inspections. The City of Charlotte adopted a fully allocated cost recovery rate of 100% for regulatory user fees.  These fees recoup the costs associated with providing special regulatory services, including plan review fees. Charlotte Water will start collecting fees, in phased approach, beginning July 1, 2016 (Fiscal Year 2017). The schedule for the collection process is as follows:

  • Fiscal Year 2017 – 50% cost recovery
  • Fiscal Year 2018 – 75% cost recovery
  • Fiscal Year 2019 – 100% cost recovery

The fees for FY 2017 (July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017) can be found here.
