Teen Arrested Following Violent Crimes, Police Work to Identify Remaining Suspects |

Shaun Derek Dunn, 16, of Durham, was taken into custody last night with the assistance of U.S. Marshals in Durham. Dunn is charged in a recent carjacking on E. Franklin Street and an armed robbery in the area of Old Chapel Hill Road.
“We will not tolerate this violent behavior in Chapel Hill,” said Police Chief Celisa Lehew. “While this is a significant turn in our investigation of these crimes, we are not finished. Our work to identify other suspects continues right now.”
Dunn faces the following charges:
- Carjacking
- Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
- Possession of Stolen Goods/Property
- Possession of Stolen Goods/Property
- Felony Larceny
- Felony Conspiracy
- Second Degree Kidnapping
- Armed Robbery
- Felony Conspiracy
- Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle
“I want to thank our investigators who’ve been working tirelessly to begin to bring justice to the victims in these cases,” said Chief Lehew. “We’re grateful for support we’ve received from the U.S. Marshal Service and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.”
Dunn is being held at the C. A. Dillon Youth Development Center in Butner, North Carolina.

Investigators continue to ask the community for assistance in identifying a person of interest in both cases. This person was seen at a gas station in Durham just after the armed robbery on July 17.
