Update (5/1/2025 8:20pm): Today, investigators arrested and charged two suspects in connection with this investigation:
Kenneth Antwaine Perry, 40, of Chapel Hill
- Attempted First Degree Murder
- Possession of Firearm by Felon
- Assault by Pointing a Gun
- Discharging Firearm within City Limits
Perry is being held at the Orange County Detention Center without bond and is expected to make a first appearance in court tomorrow at 2pm.
Ebony Montrice Wade, 27, of Chapel Hill
- Felony Conspiracy
- Accessory after the Fact
Wade is being held at the Orange County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond and is expected to make a first appearance in court tomorrow at 2pm.
Previously released (4/30/2025 7:48am): At 6:45am, the Chapel Hill Police Department responded to a report of gunfire in the 200 block of N. Roberson Street. A preliminary investigation found that someone fired shots at two men and left the area. There are no reports of injuries. Investigators believe the suspect and the victims know each other and are working to identify the suspect.
