Holiday Service and Facility Changes
Friday, April 18, is a Town holiday. Most Town offices will be closed. Some facilities and services are also impacted on Sunday, April 20. Here are some of the highlights:

Residential trash pickup won’t be affected.
- Friday’s curbside recycling will be collected on Saturday, April 19.
- On Friday, Chapel Hill Transit will run Sunday routes A, CM, CW, D, J, N and NS. U and NU routes will not run. EZ Rider hours are 8:15 a.m. to 6:52 p.m.
- The library will be open on Friday, April 18, and closed on Sunday, April 20.
- Homestead Aquatic Center, Community Center gym, and Nate Davis, Sr. gym will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 12 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Community Center Playground is Open!
Our new inclusive playground at the Community Center is open! The playground design includes Burke playground equipment that's accessible to children with a variety of abilities. We invite you to enjoy a welcoming sensory environment, a place to improve motor and cognitive skills, and a place that promotes the social and emotional skills development!

NC Task Force 8 Members Deploy
Last week, Chapel Hill Fire's Lieutenant Ben Batley, Captain Chris Cardwell, and Captain Cade Michal went to Frankfort, Kentucky to help their community amidst catastrophic flooding. They rescued people and pets, did damage assessments, and provided communications support. Thank you for your service!

Tar Heel 10 Miler Traffic on April 19
Thousands of runners return to downtown Chapel Hill and surrounding areas on April 19 for the Tar Heel 10 miler. The race organizers will have several downtown streets blocked off on race day. There’ll be delays, so they recommend using Waze to navigate around them or check their webpage ahead of time.

Divergent Needs Egg Hunt on April 19
Peter Cottontail is hopping down the bunny trail and dropping eggs in his wake. We invite kids with different abilities, special needs, or disabilities to hunt for eggs, candy, and toys in raised beds on April 19. Choose from one of two sessions at 10 or 11 a.m. at Oakwood Park. Siblings are welcome, too!

Magical Hill Arts and Adventure Fest
We invite you to the 5th annual Magical Hill Festival and Fairy House contest at Community Center Park on April 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy a day outdoors with activities designed for kids of all ages. Use your imagination, creativity, and sense of adventure while celebrating nature and the start of spring. Wear your costumes, and we'll see you there!

New Art on Bolin Creek Greenway
Swing by the Bolin Creek Greenway trailhead at the Community Center on April 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. for a free mural walk and artist talk. Travel at your own pace on this self-led tour and meet the artists who created the murals.

Join us for a Movie Under the Stars
May the 4th be with you! Grab your lightsabers and join us for a free screening of Star Wars: A New Hope on May 4 at 7:30 p.m. on the Carolina Square lawn. We'll have movie-themed activities prior to the screening. Costumes encouraged!

Stay Informed about Coal Ash at 828 MLK
Drop by anytime on Monday, April 21, between 6 and 8 p.m. in meeting room B at the library to talk about the presence of coal ash at the 828 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. property. This is an opportunity to learn about possible future uses of the property and to share your perspective.

Council met for a work session on Wednesday, April 16, at the library. They received a presentation from Orange County about the County's revaluation. They also received a presentation from Town staff related to the continuing development of the FY26 budget. Read the agenda.
Council will meet for a regular meeting on Wednesday, April 23, at Chapel Hill Town Hall. Staff will publish the agenda later today.
