April is for the Earth
April is Earth Month, and our sustainability experts are sharing some simple ways to make a difference:
-
Recycle Old Clothes: Are you cleaning out your closets this spring? If so, consider dropping off any clothes you no longer want at one of Orange County's recycling centers. Choosing to recycle your textiles prevents them from eventually ending up in landfills and reduces your personal contribution to waste.
-
Compost at Home: Start a bin at home or take your food scraps to one of Orange County's free food waste drop-offs. We're doing our part to reduce landfill waste by composting food scraps at the Library, Town Hall, and Fire Station #1.
-
Lights Out for Birds: Millions of birds travel through our state in the spring on their way back north for summer. During this month and through May, turn off your outdoor, upward-facing lights at night like we are at Town Hall.
