Town Commits to Children's Bill of Rights in Sports
The Town of Chapel Hill is endorsing the Children's Bill of Rights in Sports - an ongoing initiative designed to respect the human rights of young people as they develop through sports. "We know the realities of adulthood can sneak into sports at even the youngest ages. This commitment is a great reminder that we all play a part in this important conversation," said Parks and Recreation Director Atuya Cornwell.

Town Launches $20M Affordable Housing Loan Fund
We're excited to launch a $20 million Affordable Housing Loan Fund in partnership with UNC Health and Self-Help Ventures Fund. The fund is expected to support preserving or creating at least 600 affordable housing units over the next 20 years.

Grab Coffee with a Cop on Feb. 17
The Chapel Hill Police Department invites you Coffee with a Cop on Monday, Feb. 17, at Starbucks at 100 E. Franklin St. Our Guardians of the Hill will be there from 9 to 10:30 a.m. (also...free coffee). The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down barriers between police officers and the community they serve.

Last Call for Leaves
After four collection cycles, seasonal leaf collection is wrapping up. There's no collection this week, but our Public Works crews will start their final round on Monday, Feb. 17. In preparation for pickup, pile your leaves behind the curb and out of any bike lanes or sidewalks. Make sure the leaf piles don't have any tree limbs or yard debris.

Black History Month Community Read and Conversation
Join us at the library on Feb. 25 at 5:30 p.m. for a conversation about We Know What We Need with Charlie Cobb, the creator of the original Freedom Schools. This year's Community Read & Conversations series focuses on the history of education in our local schools while centering the experiences of Black students and educators.
