Hello, neighbors! Saturday is the start of Black History Month, and we have a few ideas for how you might celebrate the important contributions of Black and African Americans to Chapel Hill. We also invite you to browse Parks and Rec's summer camp offerings, take two Everywhere to Everywhere Greenways project surveys, and plan around a one-day library closure. |

February is Black History Month
This month we celebrate the contributions of Black and African Americans to our community, our nation, and our world. We encourage you to take time to reflect on, learn about, and appreciate the diverse voices and experiences that have shaped Chapel Hill:
- Stop by the Elizabeth Cotten mural at 111 N. Merritt Mill Rd. and listen to the Re/Collecting Chapel Hill podcast about her.
- Join us on February 10 for a fireside chat with former local leaders and current Chapel Hill Transit Director about how civil rights have shaped 50 years of Chapel Hill Transit.
- Take a “Walk with Northside Neighbors,” an audio tour narrated by Northside longtime residents. Listen to some of the stories, struggles, and aspirations of our community.
- Attend a Judging Juries screening and panel discussion on February 6 at the library. Talk about how an unfair system can impact who serves on juries and how it affects justice and fairness for everyone.
