Police Work to Identify Suspects Following Gunfire |

The Chapel Hill Police Department is working to identify suspects who shot at a North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) trooper from a stolen vehicle around 2:30 this morning. The trooper, who was not injured, was pursuing the driver of the vehicle at the time of the gunfire.
A preliminary Chapel Hill police investigation determined three suspects got out of the vehicle in the area of Timber Hollow Court and Mendel Drive and ran away from the scene. Investigators determined gunfire struck several other vehicles in the area during the incident. There are no reports of injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
