As we start to embrace cooler weather, changing leaves, and holiday planning, there are several things to remember:
-
It's dark out there! Morning and evening commutes got darker with the time change. Be extra alert for cyclists, pedestrians, and deer as you make your way through town.
-
Leaves are falling. We have options for what to do with them. Support local wildlife and Leave Your Leaves. Not for you? We still have our seasonal looseleaf collection.
-
Tar Heel Express ramps up for UNC basketball. While the football season winds down, Tar Heel Express is ramping up for basketball season.
-
Check your smoke alarms. When you change your clocks in spring and fall, our fire experts encourage you to change the batteries in your smoke alarms, too!
-
Lights Out for birds. Billions of birds are migrating south and most of them navigate with the night sky. Turning off upward-facing lights like we are at Town Hall is one way you can help keep the birds on the right path.
