Webinar: Experiences in the Use of Mini and Modular Roundabouts by Highway Agencies Date: June 25, 2026 Time: 9:00 am to 10:30 am MT/11:00 am to 12:30 pm ET Cost: $100 Continuing Education Credits: 1.5 PDH credits/1.5 CM credits Organization: Transportation Research Board (TRB)
While full-sized roundabouts are a proven solution for addressing safety and mobility at intersections, their costs have risen relative to other intersection control types, prompting interest in lower-cost alternatives. TRB will host a webinar on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM Eastern that will explore how highway agencies are planning, designing, and implementing mini and modular roundabouts as cost-effective intersection solutions. Presenters will highlight mini roundabout use on higher-speed rural roadways and near schools, where they can efficiently manage peak traffic flows and improve safety. Presenters will also examine the limited but growing use of modular roundabouts, including the contexts in which they have been deployed and the challenges affecting broader adoption.

Webinar: Traffic Management Systems Emerging Topics: Cybersecurity Date: June 25, 2026 Time: 11:00 am to 12:30 pm MT/1:00 pm to 2:30 pm ET Cost: Free Continuing Education Credits: 1.5 PDH credits Organization: National Operations Center of Excellence (NOCoE)
Traffic Management Systems (TMSs) infrastructures have traditionally been designed, operated, or managed as a closed system. They leverage the information sharing from other systems, their agency, systems external to their agency, or other interests. The exchange and utilization of data heightens the vulnerability of the TMS to potential cyber threats and attacks. In addition, the emergence and use of modern technologies or methods to share data (e.g., wireless) magnify the threat landscape for the controlled, safe, and reliable operation of TMSs.

Webinar: Are You Using Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPMs) Effectively? Date: June 30, 2026 Time: 10:00 am to 11:30 am MT/12:00 pm to 1:30 pm ET Cost: $100 Continuing Education Credits: 1.5 PDH credits Organization: Transportation Research Board (TRB)
Automated traffic signal performance measures (ATSPMs) are a promising tool for improving operations at signalized intersections, yet their implementation and use vary widely among agencies. Understanding current practices and lessons learned can help agencies overcome barriers and expand the effective use of these tools. TRB will host a webinar on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Eastern that will discuss the practices for traditional and crowd-sourced ATSPMs, present case examples from five state DOTs, and highlight recommendations for future research. It will explore different use cases, common challenges, and the factors that have contributed to successful ATSPM deployments. Attendees will gain insight into barriers that have limited broader adoption and practical strategies to address them, as well as a clearer understanding of how ATSPMs are being applied across the United States.

Webinar: Strategies for Traffic Speed Control Date: June 30, 2026 Time: 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm MT/2:00 pm to 3:00 pm ET Cost: Free members/$79 non-members Continuing Education Credits: 1 PDH/CM credit Organization: Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE)
Traffic speeds have been shown to be a major contributing factor in the severity of crashes, especially in relation to pedestrian and non-motorized crashes. With the addition of post-covid traffic patterns, compliance to safely regulated speeds has never been more important (or difficult to improve). Agencies have been resorting to more creative options to ensure motorists are travelling at safe speeds through their communities, which this webinar will showcase. The webinar intends to show varying speed control techniques from the softer, more psychologically based side of things (like dynamic feedback signage and signal optimization for slower speeds) to physical improvements to ensure safer speeds (speed bumps, traffic circles, and other quick-build methodologies). These systems all have various uses across land use systems, from urban to rural settings, and this webinar will delve into those various types as well as their effectiveness in those types. Participants should come away from this webinar with techniques (and some research to back them up) regarding what might work for their own transportation system. Additionally, appropriate usage of dynamic speed feedback signs in accordance with the 11th MUTCD edition will be discussed.

Training: ITE Road Safety Audit Fundamentals Date: July 23-24, 2026 Location: Detroit, MI Continuing Education Credits: 15.75 PDH/CM credits Organization: Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE)
The Road Safety Audit (RSA) Fundamentals Training Course is a two-day, in-person program that blends classroom instruction with hands-on application to give participants practical experience in conducting RSAs. Grounded in FHWA guidelines, the course emphasizes not just understanding RSA principles but applying them in real-world contexts.
On Day 1, participants will learn about the purpose, definitions, and types of RSAs; the eight steps of the U.S. RSA process; the role of RSAs within a Safe System; and considerations for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists before applying these concepts in a design stage RSA project.
On Day 2, participants will divide into small team groups and take part in an in-service stage RSA, conducting a field visit, developing findings and recommendations, and presenting results as a team. This applied learning approach ensures participants leave with both the knowledge and practical skills to conduct effective RSAs in their own communities.
Individuals who successfully complete this training program will receive an ITE Road Safety Audit Fundamentals Training Program Certificate.
