For the past ten years, hundreds of attendees have listened to speakers from around the country talk about the most cutting-edge solutions for distracted driving. The Summit will be a day-and-a-half event with general and breakout sessions and an exhibitor area.
This Summit will bring together industry leaders, scientists, educators, safety professionals, and law enforcement to share ideas, gather information, learn about best practices and forge solutions for distracted driving. The goal will be for all attendees to return to their communities with fresh ideas and reasonable solutions for the distracted driving issues in their area. Join the annual Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) Statewide Conference! The event serves as a forum for sharing information on best practices in engineering, enforcement, education, and emergency medical/health services and for identifying new approaches to reducing the number of traffic fatalities and life-changing injuries on our roads.
This year’s conference is scheduled for October 22 (full day) and October 23 (half day) and will be held in St. Cloud, Minnesota at the River’s Edge Convention Center.
In the opening plenary on October 22, Steve Schmidt will explore the evolving relationship between human intelligence and artificial intelligence (AI), highlighting how our combined efforts could revolutionize highway safety communication. We'll explore real-world examples of AI tools and demonstrate how they can be applied by engineering, EMS, and law enforcement to educate, improve communication, streamline processes, and ultimately save lives.
On October 23, Elias Youngblom and his mother, Tracy, will share their powerful stories of how a wrong-way, impaired driver changed his young life. Since then, Elias has learned to live a full life with a sixth sense of humor. Tracy, will also share her perspective on the crash, how it affected her and the Youngblom family, and the memoir she has written to help her cope.
