OPI Summer Institute Workshop
Standards-based language objectives – not just for ELs
The development of academic language plays a critical role in all content areas, yet it remains the elephant in many classrooms. Are these linguistic demands systematically addressed in your district? Are they made visible to students, so they have measurable language goals? At this workshop at MSU on June 22nd 8:30-11:30, you will learn how to create standards-based language objectives to bring academic language development out of the woodwork.
Using the WIDA 2020 Framework, we will work collaboratively to create sample language objectives to accompany Montana content standards – and adjust them to fit an English learner’s proficiency. This explicit, systematic, and content-integrated approach to academic language development is beneficial to all students and critical for EL success.
To register, visit the OPI’s Summer Institute Homepage. For more information about this workshop, please email destin.markland@mt.gov. All Montana educators are welcome!

SAM.gov Entity Registration and Maintenance of UEI Numbers
The presentation from the joint webinar focusing on Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number registration and maintenance. Maintaining an active and registered UEI is an important requirement for receiving federal awards, including the Small, Rural School Achievement (SRSA) grant. However, we recognize that many REAP-eligible LEAs have faced challenges with the process. The goal for this webinar is to provide a space for small, rural LEAs to receive training and guidance from GSA staff, since GSA directly administers the UEI registration and renewal process. The REAP team has partnered with our colleagues at GSA to relay challenges shared by small, rural LEAs to inform content GSA will share.
A copy of this presentation can be found here.
For additional resources regarding SRSA please visit the OPI’s Title V website.
