The Wonder of Science

Paul Anderson's site The Wonder of Science now has formative science assessments.  All the work on the site is under creative commons for anyone to access and use.   Utilize free resources from an expert!  Performance Assessments for STEM Learning is an introductory video, wherein Paul discusses NGSS's performance expectations that correspond with Montana State Science Standards and shares the resources he has available.

The Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium is offering virtual field trips that feature live Bug Ambassadors!

Need to engage students?  The Missoula Butterfly House & Insectarium has virtual field trips, lesson plans and much more and support NGSS and MT Science Standards  A message from the Butterfly House, 

“When life gives you lemons, make social distancing lemonade! “We know everyone misses their favorite Bug Ambassadors …and we miss interacting with you too. So, we’re bringing the bugs to you thanks to the world wide web and Facebook Live.  Join us every Wednesday at 1:00 PM as we go live with some of your favorite Bug Ambassadors. Tune in for each encounter, as we’ll be covering a different topic, with new critters, every time.”  


ASSIST Conference

January 28 - 29, 2021

Who should attend? 

System Test Coordinators, School Leaders (e.g., Superintendents, Principals, District Administrative Staff, Curriculum Directors, etc.), and Educators (e.g., general and special education teachers) should plan on attending. Other interested community members are also welcome to attend the event. The OPI will conduct the ASSIST Conference virtually using Zoom software and attendees are encouraged to attend the full two-days to meet the diverse local testing needs. The virtual conference will begin at 8:00 AM each day and conclude at 3:30 PM. Registration is now open.

National Science Teaching Association (NSTA)

NSTA has extended the deadline for proposals for the 10th Annual STEM Forum & Expo, until January 4, 2020.

  • The NSTA's Annual Stem Forum & Expo takes place July 28-30, 2021 in Detroit, MI.  If you are interested in presenting, then review the guidelines and submit your proposal!
  • April 8 - 11, 2021 NSTA National Conference - Chicago
