Creating Interactive, Effective, Online Classrooms Virtual Workshop- August 6th

Montana Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) is focusing on techniques to support effective and interactive online math teaching. They will kick off our MCubed summer PD with a virtual presentation by Dr. Teresa Wills on Wednesday, August 6th from 8AM to 12PM. Dr. Wills is passionate about helping teachers create interactive mathematics classrooms online. 

In this Virtual MCubed PD kickoff, Dr. Wills will guide participants through:

  • building norms and community online, 
  • giving students voice by showcasing student thinking, 
  • orchestrating the five mathematical practices online,
  • managing learning stations online, and 
  • much, much more! 

Following the kickoff, stay connected by joining optional virtual gatherings every two weeks from September through November with presentations and discussions from members of our Montana Math Community. Save the dates! Follow-up sessions will be held Thursdays via Zoom from 4:00-5:00 pm. Zoom links will be sent to participants: 

  • September 10 and 24
  • October 8 and 22
  • November 5 and 19 

Register today for both the kick-off and bimonthly gatherings using this Google form. Registration will be available for the first 75 participants.

Cost: This Virtual Conference is free to all MCTM members. If you are not currently a member of MCTM, the cost is $20. This includes a one-year membership to MCTM. By joining, you will have access to this incredible professional learning as well as other MCTM perks throughout the year!

CodeHS Montana Professional Development Workshop

The CodeHS Team and CodeHS Teacher Trainers are bringing a 2-hour virtual PD workshop for Montana educators July 28, 2020, to help prepare new and experienced computer science teachers for the (2020-21) school year. The workshops are FREE to all teachers.

Who Should Attend: CodeHS PD workshops are designed for passionate teachers who are interested in teaching computer science but do not necessarily have a background in programming. No experience is required to take the PD workshop. Montana teachers will receive 2 CEUs for their attendance.

Planning Resources for Math for this Fall

With a unique fall approaching, we have begun gathering a curated list of math planning resources that includes remote learning resources to support planning for fall. Math resources can be found on the Math Standards website. Resources range from standard prioritization to accelerating learning and online teaching practices.
