Montana Math Monthly Newsletter - August 2019

Welcome back to school! I hope you had a relaxing and fun summer and are feeling recharged and ready for the school year ahead. As you begin your year, know I am here to help answer any math-related questions and share upcoming professional development opportunities. Feel free to share exciting work from your classroom or upcoming workshops open to the state’s math teachers.

Sending positive teacher vibes for a smooth start to your year.

Big Idea #1 - YouCubed Week of Inspirational Math

Start your year with engaging problem solving activities and mindset videos for grades Kindergarten through Community College age! Check out these excellent week long lesson plans to build math problem solvers. In previous Weeks of Inspiration Math(WIM), 98% of teachers said their students were engaged when working on the lessons and 96% of the students surveyed said they now believe they should keep going even when work is hard and they make mistakes. This year’s week of inspirational math, created by YouCubed creator Jo Boaler, will be released on August 29th.
