The Montana Cadastral application (gis.mt.gov) is heavily used by Montanans across the state as the source on land ownership information. Citizens, industries, and government entities use this map-based application to search for property information by geocode, owner, address, assessment code, subdivision, or by location on the map.
We recently released a new version of the application. This redesign is a complete rewrite with significant changes “under the hood.” With the redesign, the application is now more mobile device friendly with improved performance for phone and tablet access. The Montana State Library sends condolences to the family of Lisa Mecklenberg Jackson who died on May 27, 2024. I have never known our community without her, and her loss leaves a hole that will not be easily filled. Having worked in both special and public libraries, Lisa understood and appreciated how libraries serve people in all aspects of their lives and livelihoods. As an attorney, she shared unparalleled legal knowledge with libraries and the patrons she served. Lisa worked tirelessly to promote the work of libraries. For many, Lisa is synonymous with the Sheila Cates Scholarship, awarded annually by the Montana Library Association in honor of the State Library’s own Sheila Cates, who also died of cancer. It was my honor to know Lisa as both my colleague and my friend.
Jennie Stapp, State Librarian
