WINTER ICE JAM DAMAGE

Mallard's Rest Fishing Access Site Remains Closed

This winter’s ice jam near Mallard’s Rest Fishing Access Site (FAS) on the Yellowstone River south of Livingston resulted in a number of maintenance issues requiring the site to remain closed to the public until repairs to the interior roadway, latrines, boat ramp and a several camp sites can be completed. The site has been closed since mid-December.

FWP anticipates Mallard’s Rest FAS to re-open by the second week of April.

Additionally, Ennis FAS on the Madison River remains closed due to ice jam related flooding issues. However, on Monday, FWP was able to re-open nearby Valley Garden FAS on the Madison River.

FWP appreciates the public’s patience as closed sites are readied for safe public use.

Information on FAS closures (and closures related to fire and drought) can be found on FWP’s website by following links on the “Restrictions, Closures and Reopenings” page.
