Arnold Named FWP Region 2 Supervisor
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks announces that Randy Arnold
will assume its top post in FWP Region 2, headquartered in Missoula.
Arnold succeeds Mack Long, who served as Regional Supervisor for 14 years until his retirement in March 2013.
“Randy has demonstrated exceptional leadership, supervisory, conflict
resolution and communication skills and abilities in his 18 years with
the department, and has prepared himself well to step-up to this
position,” said Paul Sihler, FWP Field Services Division Administrator
in Helena.
Arnold’s career with FWP will have come full circle when he moves to
Missoula from Billings, where he has served as a Game Warden Sergeant
since 2007. He began his FWP career in Missoula as a Game Warden
Trainee in 1995, under then Warden Captain Long.
Between Missoula and Billings, Arnold held field warden or investigator positions in Forsyth and Helena.
Among his accomplishments was assisting the Helena Urban Wildlife
Taskforce when Helena developed its urban deer management plan.
He served on FWP’s Career Development Steering Committee and played a
principal role in developing a Leadership and Management Development
Program for FWP employees. In 2000 he received the Governor’s Award for
a cooperative investigation into Felony Lacey Act violations and
commercialization of wildlife, and in 2011 he was honored with the
Shikar-Safari Wildlife Officer of the Year Award for his exceptional
enforcement efforts.
“I look forward to helping our region provide the best possible
stewardship for Montana’s fish, wildlife and recreational resources,”
