Featured Location:  Holland Lake Lodge

Montana is the ultimate location, but finding the right spot for your next film can be daunting in a state with 147,040 square miles. However, you don't have to wander around alone. Commerce's Montana Film Office can guide you to the perfect spot. This is just one of the state's unique places. Make sure to browse our locations database for more inspiration.

Holland Lake Lodge 01

Holland Lake Lodge is a rustic resort located about 80 miles northeast of Missoula. It was featured in the 2008 film "Pretty Ugly People" starring Melissa McCarthy. It is surrounded by stunning views of two mountain ranges, a pristine lake and a 100-foot waterfall. Enjoy breathtaking sunsets, the fresh mountain air over the lake, hikes to the roaring falls and delicious dinners prepared by an on-site chef. The Lodge has six lakeside cabins and nine rooms in the main lodge, accommodating up to 45 people.

Holland Lake Lodge offers a great location for many media genres, like a summer camp comedy film, a seasonal clothing line commercial and still photo shoot, or a mysterious horror TV series. It also has a variety of visual and thematic aesthetics.

Whether filming on-site or in the surrounding areas, Holland Lake Lodge proves an ideal location to shoot your project or house your crew.

emma.brandt@mt.gov | 406-841-2876

Emma Brandt

Please help Commerce's Montana Film Office welcome its newest team member: Emma Brandt. She started as its multimedia coordinator in May.

Emma was born and raised in Helena and has spent her entire life loving stories conveyed through art, literature and film. After starting at Montana State University to study film and graphic design, she transferred to the University of Montana and received her degree in art.

During the last three Montana legislative sessions, Emma worked as a videographer and producer for the Montana Public Affairs Network. The experience provided a fascinating and informative look into state government and broadcast television. She even watched the passage of the MEDIA Act legislation as it happened live.

Emma is excited to be a member of the talented team at the Montana Film Office, and is committed to helping build a thriving and sustainable future for Montana’s film industry.

In her free time, Emma enjoys watching and overthinking film and television, checking out new books and games, hiking Helena’s amazing trail system and spoiling her fifteen-year-old beagle, Peanut.
