Featured Location - Fort Union Trading Post
Montana is the ultimate location, but finding the right spot for your next film can be daunting in a state with 147,040 square miles. However, you don't have to wander around alone -- the Montana Film Office can guide you to the perfect spot. This is just one of the area's unique places. Make sure to browse our Locations Database for more inspiration.
Between 1828 and 1867, Fort Union Trading Post was the most essential and lucrative trading post on the Upper Missouri River. This National Historic Site extends from North Dakota into the eastern part of Montana. The buildings have been reconstructed, but are located on the site of the original trading post. Fort Union gives filmmakers a location with an authentic 1851 look, and a plethora of information to make a historically accurate representation of the old way of living in the Upper Missouri area. It is managed by the National Park Service.

Schneider and his family are back in Bozeman now, and when asked what he likes best about working in Montana, he said, "Natural beauty and great people... We have an abundance of experienced professionals with amazing credits to their names."
