Montana Food and Beverage Show

The Montana Food and Beverage Show, hosted by the Montana Department of Agriculture, is scheduled for November 7, 2022 at the Hilton Garden Inn at Missoula.

This show will give you a chance to showcase and provide samples of your products to buyers from distributors, restaurants, hotels, bars, retail stores, and more! This show will be open to professional buyers ONLY.

This year's event features a Chef Showcase.  Executive Chef Sunny Jin of The Resort at Paws Up will combine products from the show into custom dishes.  This will be an opportunity for buyers to experience your product in real time. Please indicate on the application form if you would like Chef Jin to showcase your product.  Chef Jin will make the final decision on which products will be showcased, but will make an effort to include all companies that sign up for it.

Vendor applications are available online; the deadline to register is September 29.

To participate, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be an active and registered member of the Made in Montana program
  • Sell gifts, general merchandise items, and/or shelf-stable, packaged food/beverage
  • Sell at wholesale prices and follow wholesale practices
  • Follow all applicable Health Department rules if sampling food and/or beverages
  • Agree not to exhibit or promote any non-Made in Montana products at this trade show
  • Agree to all exhibitor rules and regulations

Montana Agritourism Fellows Program

Are you or someone you know interested in learning more about sustainable agritourism in Montana? The fellows program is currently recruiting participants and nominations for the “Montana Agritourism Fellows Program: Developing Leaders to Advance Sustainable Agritourism.” This fellowship program will train a cohort of leaders who will advance communications with farmers, ranchers, professionals, and communities about sustainable agritourism. All lodging and program costs are covered by a Western SARE grant.

2022 Growth Through Agriculture Program 

The Growth Through Agriculture (GTA) program is a grant and loan program established by the Montana Legislature to strengthen and diversify Montana's agricultural industry through the development of new agricultural products and processes. Examples of eligible project activities involve equipment purchases, construction costs, advertising and promotion, and consultant services for engineering. The GTA program is administered by the Agriculture Development Council, which is attached to the Department of Agriculture.

Award Amounts:

  • Grants up to $50,000
  • Loans up to $100,000

SBA Montana District Office Seeks Nominations for the National Small Business Week 2023

Do you or someone you know have what it takes to become America’s “Small Business Person of the Year” for 2023? If so, the U.S. Small Business Administration [lnks.gd] (SBA) wants to hear from you. 

The SBA is proud to announce that its Montana District Office is ready to accept nominations for the 2023 National and District Small Business Week Awards, including the annual Small Business Person of the Year Award.

Visit the SBA’s website at www.sba.gov/nsbw [lnks.gd] to download forms, criteria, and guidelines for submitting a nomination. The Montana District Nomination Guidelines and district awards categories can be found on the district’s website at Montana | U.S. Small Business Administration (sba.gov) [lnks.gd].

Montana Ag Network: Honey Harvest is in Full Swing

Mark Jensen has been running Smoot Honey Co. since 1996. Celebrating over 50 years of business in Teton county, Smoot Honey is in the middle of this year’s harvest.

“We produce roughly half a million pounds of honey each year," said Jensen.

Half a million pounds sounds like a lot, and it is for the size of the farm. It competes with some of its largest competitors across the U.S., producing over one hundred pounds of honey per hive.
