'Crazy Berry Lady’s' Aspen Grove Farm is Growing Like Mad

The Montana Department of Agriculture toured value-added agriculture in Missoula and the Bitterroot Valley on Thursday.

The tour included Aspen Grove Farm, where owner Melissa Allred shared her story of growing berries in western Montana’s Bitterroot Valley.

Allred said she dreamed of having a farm for years before she took action.

“I have always loved growing things as a child. My mom always grew a big garden,” she said. “I love soil, I love having my hands in it. For years, it was my church in the early mornings, just me and God and the birds. I always wanted to share that with people. My favorite thing is having people come to the farm.”
