Land Use and Planning Books Available

The Montana Department of Commerce is pleased to offer to any interested party a free copy of Montana’s 2019 Land Use and Planning Statute booklet.

This booklet includes relevant sections of the MCA Land Use and Planning Statutes and related Administrative Rules: Title 7; Title 10; Title 67; Title 75; Title 76; Administrative Rules of Montana for the Montana Sanitation in Subdivisions Act; and, the Administrative Rules of Montana for the Montana Subdivision and Platting Act. The booklet is used by professional service providers as a resource when seeking out land use and planning information.

The Community Technical Assistance Program (CTAP) provides professional planning assistance to communities across Montana in support of sound land use and development decisions, economic revitalization, and overall community resilience. Technical assistance is provided through workshops and trainings, direct assistance by phone or email, collaboration with local, state, and federal partners, the creation of model documents, and guidance on planning best practices.  Rebecca Shaw, Planning Program Specialist, has recently joined the Department of Commerce and is available to provide land use and planning technical assistance; please feel free to contact the Community Technical Assistance Program staff by sending an email to DOCCTAP@mt.gov or 406-841-2770.
