Grants for international trade shows

Are you planning on exhibiting at any trade shows outside the USA in 2019-2020?  If so, we have grant funds available to reimburse you for up to $10,000 of your expenses!

The Montana Department of Commerce’s ExportMontana program competed to receive Federal grant funds from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) to help companies with funding their global market expansion by exhibiting at international trade shows.  You can apply for these funds to get a 50% reimbursement, up to $10,000 for:

  • Exhibit space fees and registration
  • Booth rental
  • Display elements (booth rental, graphics, banners, signs, racks, decorations, lighting)
  • Booth furnishings (table, chairs)
  • Shipping and storage (drayage, freight, exhibit storage)
  • Show services (set-up and tear down, utilities, card reader, security)
  • Trade show literature (brochures, sales sheets, business cards, etc.)

What about travel expenses?

Additionally, the grant can provide a $2,000 stipend to help offset your travel costs for the show. 

Are domestic shows eligible?

Some domestic shows are eligible for our Montana STEP international grant.  If you can demonstrate in your application that at least 10% of the show’s buyers are international, the show may be eligible.  We recommend that you talk to us first to make sure of eligibility prior to applying.

How do I apply?

The application process is simple and approval is fast.  Download and fill out our Montana STEP grant application and return it to us up to 30 days before you exhibit.  Once you return from the show, you then fill out a reimbursement request, provide receipts, and we send your reimbursement within 14 days.
