MDT Work in our Area:
I-90 – Bear Canyon to Jackson Creek: The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is rehabilitating approximately 6 miles of Interstate 90 (I-90) between Bozeman and Livingston. The project begins at the Fort Ellis Road overpass and proceeds east through the canyon to the Jackson Creek Road Interchange (Exit 319). This week, crews will begin installing new rumble strips, guardrail, and signage in the project area. This is anticipated to take a few weeks to complete. Following installation of these items, construction may pause until warmer temperatures return to the area and a seal and cover (chip seal) can be applied to the pavement. Please visit the MDT’s website for updated information on this project. During construction:
- Traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction.
- Flaggers or temporary signals may direct traffic on ramps and crossroads.
- Speed limits will be reduced.
- Interchange on- and off-ramps within the project area will be temporarily closed when chip seal is applied to Interstate 90 (I-90) in front of the ramps.
- Wide loads may be restricted at times. Visit 511mt.net for the most up-to-date information on width restrictions.
I-90 – Belgrade to Bozeman: Starting on Tuesday, May 26, MDT crews plan to close the Interstate 90 (I-90) on- and off-ramps at North 19th Avenue (Exit 305) and North 7th Avenue for milling and paving, weather and other unforeseen factors permitting. This work will be completed between approximately 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. to minimize impacts on the traveling public. The ramps will be open to traffic during the day. The width restriction through the project area has been lifted. Please visit the MDT’s website for updated information on this project.
