 The following report is an update for the week of April 12, 2026:
City of Bozeman Projects:
North Black Parking Lot: Partial Lot Closure: A portion of the North Black Surface Lot is closed for work on the I-Ho Pomeroy Peace Park. There are currently lanes and sidewalks closed on southern westbound lane on Mendenhall; and the southbound lane on Black between Mendenhall and the alley towards Main to install new sidewalk, curb & gutter, and paving. Traffic control signage has been installed. Please note, there is no left turn out of the parking garage onto Black. Lane and sidewalk closures will be in place for approximately 3-4 weeks. Parking in the Black Lot will also be reduced by 7 parking spaces for this duration. South Black Sewer Renovation: Sewer improvements aimed at enhancing essential infrastructure along S. Black Avenue are now underway. Mail delivery will continue as usual, and garbage bins should be placed in their regular location on Thursday. If you use a garbage service other than City of Bozeman, please text or call to coordinate Derek Dejong, Project Manager, Williams Civil Construction, 406-539-8260.
- S. Black Ave. OPEN from College St. to Harrison St.
- S. Black Ave CLOSED from Harrison St. to dead end.
- Access via Harrison St. remains CLOSED.
- Sidewalk access remains OPEN throughout the project duration.
- Consider parking along Garfield St. and accessing residences via the Gallagator trail.
South Black: CK May: Will be paving two small patches in South Black Avenue Monday 4/13 and re-opened by the end of the day.
- South Black Avenue (northbound lane only) closed Monday 4/13 from Main Street to the Alley south of Main Street. Local access will remain open.
- South Black Avenue closed Monday 4/13 from Olive Street to Curtiss Street. Local access will remain open.
13th and 14th Avenue Water Renovation: The City of Bozeman is replacing aging water mains along 13th and 14th Avenue to ensure reliable water service for generations to come. This work will be performed by CK May. This week, CK May and the City of Bozeman H2O Dept. will be connecting residents to a temporary water system. You may experience a brief (10-15 minute) disruption of water service while your home is being connected. Once you are connected to the temporary system, you may use water as usual.
- 13th Ave. CLOSED from Koch St. to College St.
- CK May will be paving the intersection of West Koch Street and South 13th Avenue Monday 4/13 and re-opened by the end of the day.
- West Koch Street closed Monday 4/13 at the South 13th Avenue intersection.
- Please park off site and stay clear of construction activity. Sidewalk and alley access shall be maintained. Mail delivery and trash collection will continue as usual.
North Black Avenue Traffic Circles: Construction of the permanent traffic circles on North Black Avenue at the intersections of East Villard Street and East Lamme Street. Work is expected to take approximately 3 weeks. • Streets will remain open except for short duration closures to through traffic during activities like concrete pours.
- Access to local properties will remain open and accessible throughout.
- “No Parking” areas will be temporarily extended near the intersections to help traffic move through the area while construction materials are out.
Other Projects/Closures:
I-90 – Belgrade to Bozeman: Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) will be starting road construction 7:00 AM Monday, April 13 to September 1, 2026, road construction will begin for the interstate bridges over Valley Spur Rd. Expect Lane closures and reduced speed limits. Motorcycles, please consider alternate routes. Milling, paving, guardrail, and signing to begin April 19 at night. *Width restriction goes into effect April 13th* Please visit the MDT’s website for updated information.
1920 W Babcock: JZ Construction: Will be closing S 20th Ave between W Babcock and W Olive St. for a crane operation on the development at 1920 W Babcock. This closure will last Saturday 4/11 and Sunday 4/12, and potentially Monday 4/13. For more information, please contact Josh Zaldonis with JZ Construction - 406-570-4942.
Fallon and Valley Commons: Sime Construction will have a closure in this area for installation of water and sewer tie-ins for Ferguson Farm Subdivision. This closure will include S Ferguson Ave from Huffine to Fallon St. Construction will be starting 4/7/26 – 4/17/26. For more information, please contact Rich Coffey at 406-539-2863.
3505 Laramie Dr: Omdahl Excavation: Will be closing Fallon St. from Laramie Dr. to Fowler Ave. This closure will begin on Monday 4/13 and last 2-3 days. They will then transition their closure over to Laramie Dr. and will have the closure for approximately 3 days, Fallon will be reopened during this closure.
Alderson to W Babcock - Alley Between 9th and 10th: Northwestern Energy: Will be retiring and replacing the gas main in the alleyway from Alderson St. to W Babcock St. This project will go in increments of one street alley closure at a time, working from Alderson to W Babcock. This Week 4/13:
- RMC will be between Dickerson and Story in the alleyway running parallel to 9th and 10th drilling in gas service lines beginning Monday 4/13. We expect this to last a week to a week and a half, and the alleyway will be open from both sides for parking access, as they move north through the alley.
- Northwestern Energy will be digging in Gas Main through the alleyway directly to the south (between Alderson and Dickerson) and will have the area that they are working in closed, but residents in unaffected areas will have access to their back-of-lot parking. They will backfill the alleyway at the end of the day, when possible, unless there are situations where they absolutely need to have a section of their dig open for the next day.
Lamme and N Tracy: Dick Anderson Construction (Hotel Bozeman): Hotel Bozeman have installed jersey rail. They will have no parking signs along the fence on Lamme. They currently have no parking all down Lamme and Tracy around this project. Intermittent single lane closures along Southbound Tracy between Beall and Lamme as well as Eastbound Beall between Willson and Tracy throughout the next several weeks as they work through exterior envelop work.
W Main St and N 5th Ave: Langlas: The parking lane along Main St will remain closed for construction of a new hotel. A pedestrian sidewalk has been installed along W Main and is open. Also, the sidewalk along Mendenhall is closed between 5th and the alley to the west of 5th for pedestrian lighting installation.
122 E Main: Langlas: A pedestrian walkway remains in place for the renovation of the Cooper Black Building.
116 E Main: Langlas: Crane operation.
Griffin Drive, Bridger Drive, and surrounding neighborhoods Fiber Install: Rocky Mountain Contractors will be performing horizontal drilling to install buried conduits. The work shall take place NE of I-90 along Griffin Dr, Bridger Dr., and the surrounding neighborhoods. Expect lane shifts and utility workers along the ROW.
