Bozeman Yellowstone Int’l Airport – Bozeman, Montana

Revised Deadlines Below

Art Acceptance Criteria – Expanded Terminal Building

A number of local artists have expressed a desire to donate or exhibit various works of art in the expanded Bozeman Yellowstone Int’l Airport terminal building.  To provide an orderly and fair procedure to accept these works of art, the Gallatin Airport Authority establishes the following guidelines:

Philosophy:  The art desired to be included inside and outside the terminal should be compatible with the architectural style of the building.  The art should be an original piece that represents a sense of the region.  The art should be realistic and representational of western scenes and activities with particular emphasis on “wildlife” or associated outdoor topics.  This would also include statuaries or scenes depicting skiing, fishing, aviation or other activities prevalent in the area.

Authority:  The Gallatin Airport Authority Board is the sole agent for judging, rejecting or accepting works of art.  The Board reserves the right to refuse any or all proposals without explanation or comment.

Restrictions:  Artists who wish to submit works of art must have extensive experience in the art medium in which they are working.

Source:  All art will be provided by private donors.  No Airport Authority funds will be used at this time to procure art.

Donation:  Proposed donations will conform to the art philosophy of the Gallatin Airport Authority.  When donated art is accepted, there will be a contractual agreement between the Authority and the donor agreeing upon the value of the art work and upon acceptance, the Authority is the sole owner and has the full and absolute right to dispose of the art work as determined appropriate.  Plaques and other means of attributing authorship of the donated art will be unobtrusive and the method of attribution will be the exclusive prerogative of the Gallatin Airport Authority (No airport funds will be used for plaques or other attributing authorship methods).

Kyle Boundy Memorial Sculpture Helena

The deadline for this project has been extended to July 15, 2020.

The Helena Public Art Committee and the Helena Open Lands, Parks and Recreation Department seeks to commission an interactive sculpture to be placed at Wesleyan Park in Helena MT. This artwork will be a privately funded gift to the City of Helena in memoriam to Kyle Boundy.

The sculpture should surprise, inspire, and fuel the imagination. The form may be whimsical, abstract, surreal or representational. Elements may be moveable, but of course safety is a primary factor. A sculpture that may be appreciated by both children and adults would be ideal. The construction materials and design should be such so as to minimize the potential for graffiti and vandalism.

The sculpture must meet ADA requirements. It should be interactive for all.

Total Budget: $30,000. The cost of any equipment, installation, services or supplies purchased, leased, or provided by the artist must be included in the total budget. The contract may include a provision for payment of $15,000 upon award of the contract, with the balance to be paid on conclusion of the project. (See #6 under “Proposal Submission Requirements.”) The remaining $15,000 will be paid after installation.
