PROMOTING ELECTIONS LITERACY
As you know, 2023 is a big year for Mississippi as we conduct statewide elections from county offices all the way up to the governor. With numerous offices on the ballot, it is important to begin educating Mississippians on the elections process, not just dates and deadlines. We want to ensure each of you is an informed voter prior to hitting the polls in August, so we launched an Elections 101 campaign. Our goal is to not only focus on voter turnout but promote elections literacy.
In April, we began publishing weekly social media content covering a wide range of elections topics including how to register to vote, how to update voter registration, primary voting rules, ADA voting, certification information, and many others. Our Elections Division has also hosted live workshops for various subsets including lobbyists, candidates, and an upcoming elections media training.
In September, we will continue our Voter Registration Roadtrip, which is also National Voter Registration Month. We will be visiting college campuses across the state throughout the month to ensure we are engaging our young Mississippians in the elections process.
I encourage each of you to follow our Elections 101 campaign by liking the Secretary of State's Office on Facebook. Help us share trusted information with your friends and family.

I'm proud of our continued efforts to reduce red tape in Mississippi through our Tackle the Tape initiative. As a member of the Occupational Licensing Review Commission (OLRC), we have now cast 91 votes to ensure starting or operating a business in Mississippi is less burdensome.
Tackle the Tape is more than just a talking point. It is substantive reform helping everyday Mississippians. To learn more or report a burdensome regulation, visit the Tackle the Tape website.

REAGAN DAY DINNER
It's always great to be in DeSoto County but especially when attending the Reagan Day Dinner with my DeSoto County Republican friends. A big thanks to Jon Stevenson and Ashley for hosting me at their table.
It gives me great confidence to be in a room with nearly 450 conservatives who are committed to joining together to fight the liberal agenda infiltrating our country in every facet, including our borders, youth, elections, education, etc.

MISSISSIPPI RESTAURANT OWNER RECOGNIZED NATIONALLY
Congratulations to my friend Chef Nick Wallace on being named the ‘23 MS Small Business Person of the Year! The Jackson native & nationally-renowned culinary philanthropist was recognized at the National Small Business Week awards ceremony in April in Washington, D.C.
If you haven’t eaten at his restaurant "Nissan Café" inside Two Mississippi Museums, you are missing out! Many phenomenal items on the menu but nothing beats his gumbo. Appreciate his hard work and investment in the Jackson metro area.
