Election Day!
One of my favorite days of the year is Election Day! Even though the November 2nd General/Special Election only had 30 counties participating, it was still a great day traveling the state to visit with Mississippians and ensure our election laws are being followed.
Close to 20 of our staff members volunteered to observe precincts around the state. I started in Tupelo and then worked my way through precincts in Houston, Macon, DeKalb, and Meridian. I also had a chance to visit with a couple of my Circuit Clerk friends, mayors, legislators, voters, and poll managers. Thank you to all who worked at a precinct and all who came out to have your voices heard at the ballot box!
Conservation Efforts
We had a great first meeting with our Conservation Task Force, which includes some of the brightest minds in the state. Private sector members, state agency heads, NGOs, and other organizations set out to learn about the great work already being done and craft the finest statewide conservation plan in the country.
Getting this team together can do nothing but good for our state conservation efforts. As we’ve often heard, good things happen when no one cares who gets the credit. Look forward to keeping you posted over the months to come, so stay tuned!

PTV Mock Election Day
Each year, our office hosts a Promote the Vote (PTV) Mock Election Day where teachers and students organize a "local election" for their grade level. Knowing Election Day is one of my favorite days, you can imagine my excitement when I get to talk to elementary students about the importance of elections and voting! It’s quite refreshing to see our youngest generation of Mississippians engaged and active in the democratic process, and I thank all of the teachers who chose to allow your students to be a part of this great day!

Delta Farm Tour
Enjoyed the opportunity to spend a beautiful Fall day with Farm Bureau in the Mississippi Delta. My stops included breakfast at Hines Grocery with the Yazoo County Board members, a visit to Simmons Catfish, a conversation with Humphreys County Farm Bureau members, time on a cotton picker, lunch with Sharkey and Issaquena County Farm Bureau members, grabbed a few rows of soy beans, and got caught up to speed on the Delta backwater pumps. Gracious, what a day! A big thanks to everyone who took the time to visit with me and my good friend, Mike McCormick!

District Attorney Collaboration
I had a great meeting with several District Attorneys from around the state. It's always exciting to partner with others who want to make a difference for all Mississippians. Through our partnership, we will work to aggressively pursue securities fraud, election law violations, financial exploitation of vulnerable adults, and other issues under our purview.

MACA Fall Conference
Thanks to the Mississippi State University Extension Service for inviting me to speak at the 2021 Fall Conference of the Mississippi Assessors & Collectors Association. These unsung heroes are the backbone of our state. I appreciate any opportunity to visit with them, applaud their efforts, and reassure them our agency is always available for support.

Mississippi State Fair
I relished the opportunity to serve up some of the finest biscuits and syrup around at the State Fair with my good friend, Commissioner Andy Gipson. My wife was a bit jealous that I got to work in the famous Biscuit Booth! Not only did I get to hand out biscuits and syrup, but I was able to learn some of the tricks of the trade from the experts! Come see me there next year. I’ll add a little extra syrup!
