Notice to business license holders regarding license fee relief
To support small businesses impacted by Operation Metro Surge, the City of Minneapolis approved the Small Business Resiliency Fund (SBRF), supporting business recovery from Operation Metro Surge. Included in this package is $4 million in license fee relief for Minneapolis businesses.
You are receiving this message because one or more of the licenses you hold are eligible for this relief.
SBRF will cover the full cost of the 2026 renewal license fees for the following license types:

Food Licenses
- Food Manufacturer
- Confectionery
- Grocery
- Grocery, Accessory Use
- Meat Market
- Restaurant
- Wine Licenses

Brewery Licenses
- Taproom, General Entertainment
- Taproom, Limited Entertainment
- Taproom, No Live Entertainment
SBRF will cover 50% of the cost of 2026 renewallicense fees for the following license types:

Liquor Licenses
- On sale, General Entertainment
- On sale, Limited Entertainment
- On sale, No Live Entertainment
What this means to the license holder:
- You are required to submit your renewal application to stay in good standing.
- If you have not paid your 2026 renewal fee, it will be removed automatically.
- If you have already paid your 2026 renewal fee, you will get a refund.
- It will be issued to the license holder and will come in the form of a check.
- You do not need to take any action to receive a refund, it will be processed automatically. You may be contacted to confirm mailing address.
Note for Liquor License holders:
Due to billing schedules set in ordinance, some license fees will be refunded and some will be paid directly.
- Series 3000 1st Half (due 6/1), Series 1000 2nd Half (due 7/1) will be paid with these funds, a $0 bill will be sent to businesses who will need to return any required paperwork and confirm business operation.
- Series 2000 1st Half (due 3/1), Series 4000 2nd Half (due 4/1), On Sale Wine, Brewery Taproom license holders will be refunded paid fees.
