With multiple federal agencies in town, you should be familiar with the uniforms worn by City employees. Below are photos of the uniforms worn by Regulatory Services staff. This includes:
- Animal Control Officers
- Housing Inspectors
- Fire Inspectors
- Traffic Control Agents
We also have a bulletin with translations that includes photos of police officers, community service officers, and firefighters.
What to expect from City staff
If a Housing Inspector, Fire Inspector, or another City employee comes to your home, they will introduce themselves and tell you why they are there. You can always:
- Ask a City employee to identify themselves and show you their badge
- Request a translator
- Call 311 to verify the employee's identity and reason for being at your address
Nobody in a City uniform will ever ask for your immigration status or participate with any federal immigration enforcement activity. Our officers do not wear masks to hide their identity.
Find information on your rights and resources, and stay up to date on our response to federal activity in the city on the City website.
The City of Minneapolis will always stand with our immigrant and refugee communities.
