2026 Homegrown Collaborative Projects
Homegrown Minneapolis, housed within the City of Minneapolis' Health Department, is pleased to announce a funding opportunity to support collaborative, community-led projects related to sustainable urban agriculture and wasted food prevention. This funding opportunity is part of the City's Climate Legacy Initiative.
This RFP is designed to fund collaborative projects that further the objectives below. The overarching goal is to support a more just, resilient, and equitable food system.
Objective 1: Support sustainable urban agriculture growing practices, including the use of energy-efficient season extension growing structures, that increase availability of locally grown food.
Objective 2: Support wasted food prevention through rescue and waste diversion to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
We invite proposals from collaborations between at least two partners. One partner will serve as the lead applicant and contract with the City. The lead applicant will subcontract with at least one partner.
The City will award two to five contracts for $20,000 to $50,000 each to Consultants (organizations or other entities) that are serving as fiscal agents for collaborative projects with at least one partner.
The deadline to submit an application is 2 p.m. on February 3, 2026. Late submissions cannot be accepted.

The webinar will be recorded and made available.
Questions can be submitted to homegrown@minneapolismn.gov. The deadline to submit a question is January 20, 2026. City staff will reply directly to questions received by the deadline. Responses will be compiled and shared in the e-Supplier portal following the deadline.
