The Office of Community Safety (OCS) has completed the first round of engagement with the South Minneapolis community about the South Minneapolis Community Safety Center and the Lake Street Community Safety Center. The information we’ve collected will help decide what services could be available in the community safety centers. OCS staff have been out in the community, meeting in-person with specific communities, giving presentations to neighborhood groups, engaging with community members at events and during walking engagements, and speaking on cultural media shows. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate in these events – whether it was at one of the more than 35 in-person events, on the street, or by completing the online survey.

Most of the reports from the engagement can be found on the community safety centers website. The page will be updated as more reports are made available. Click here to view the current reports. OCS is reviewing the data and a report on this information will be provided in the coming weeks.

On Wednesday, June 5, at the Public Health and Safety Committee meeting, OCS staff provided an update on the South Minneapolis Community Safety Center, including a timeline. Click here to read more about the update and to see the presentation.

For updates and more information, check out the Community Safety Centers website and follow the OCS Facebook and Instagram pages.
