City of Lakes

Dear Neighbor,

This week we’ve seen the communities around us slowly start to reopen under Governor Walz’s guidelines. Perhaps, like me, you’ve received notices from doctors and dentists about long ago appointments that are finally ready to reschedule, which we are thankful for- but mostly wishing it was an opportunity for a haircut. As we work to slowly and safely “turn the dial” on reopening businesses, the city is interested in your feedback and suggestions. You’ll see that link in the “Too Local to Fail” article below.

The person I want to highlight today is Chanda Smith Baker, someone I am lucky to call a friend.  She and I have had the opportunity to tackle public safety issues together on  taskforces and workgroups over the past couple years, and she plays an important role in the thought leadership of our city. Many of us don’t have a lot of time to explore all the new virtual content being created around our community- whether its concerts, cooking classes, etc.  But for those that do, I invite you to give the Conversations with Chanda a try (see below). I so enjoyed seeing familiar faces from our ward at Chanda’s live events .  I am grateful for the work the Minneapolis Foundation does and partnership with the city on so many fronts- they are real changemakers in our midst. Former Mayor (and 13th ward resident) R.T. Rybak now leads this organization and in my conversations with him about the future of our city, Chanda’s leadership is key.

Be safe and be well, and all my best.

Yours in Service,

Linea
