DESE Submits A-F School Grading Framework to Governor for Approval

DESE has submitted the A-F framework proposal for grading Missouri’s public schools and districts to the governor’s office. The submission of the A-F School Grading Framework responds to Executive Order (EO) 26-01, signed Jan 13, 2026, by Governor Kehoe, which directs DESE to create yearly A-F grade cards that reflect student outcomes.

Missouri State Offices Closed

Happy Independence Day!

All State of Missouri offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026, in the observance of Independence Day.

Stay Cool and Hydrated During Extreme Heat

Below are a few tips from the CDC during the extreme heat

If you are outside in the heat, especially for a long time

Stay in the shade as much as possible
Take breaks when you can
Try to do outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day or evening
Carry a water bottle. Drink and refill throughout the day
Drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated

Registration is open for the 2026 Cooperative Conference for School Administrators, July 26 – 28 at Tan-Tar-A Conference Center in Osage Beach.

DSS Extends Healthy SNAP Launch; SuN Bucks Open

The Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) has moved the Healthy SNAP launch to February 15, 2027, to allow more time for partner feedback and retailer preparation.

Missouri SuN Bucks (Summer EBT) applications are now open. Eligible families can receive a one‑time $120 benefit per child for summer food support.

Learning can happen anywhere — at home, at the library, outside, or during everyday activities.

This summer, DESE will share simple tips, activities, and resources to help students stay engaged, build confidence, and prepare for the school year ahead.
