The Missouri State Board of Education has appointed Dr. Stacey Preis as Interim Commissioner of Education, effective June 15, 2026. Dr. Preis brings the experience that will build on the current momentum of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to improve outcomes for Missouri students.

The Missouri State Board of Education will hold a public meeting Tuesday, June 23, at 8:30 a.m. in the Jefferson State Office Building in Jefferson City. Members of the public are welcome to attend in person or listen live online.

Countdown to Change: New Assessment Starts July 1; Survey Closes Soon
- Beginning Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the Educational Testing Service (ETS) ParaPathways assessment will replace the ParaPro assessment in Missouri. DESE will continue accepting ParaPro scores for assessments completed on or before June 30. Please continue sharing this information throughout June.
- The survey window for First-Year Educators and their supervisors closes Friday, June 12, 2026. If you received an invitation, please be sure to complete the survey before the deadline.

The Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) has moved the Healthy SNAP launch to February 15, 2027, to allow more time for partner feedback and retailer preparation.
Missouri SuN Bucks (Summer EBT) applications are now open. Eligible families can receive a one‑time $120 benefit per child for summer food support.

Registration is open for the 2026 Cooperative Conference for School Administrators, July 26 – 28 at Tan-Tar-A Conference Center in Osage Beach.
This year’s theme, The Power of Public Education, highlights the impact of Missouri’s schools and educators.

Registration is open for the 2026 Postsecondary Transition Training Institute (PTTI), June 23 – 25 at the Wyndham Executive Center in Columbia.
The institute will feature sessions focused on postsecondary transition and is open to educators, service providers, families, and others who support individuals with varying abilities.

Enrollment is open for Cohort 41 of Leadership Academy for School Principals through the Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS).
Designed for administrators with at least two years of experience, the program helps principals strengthen instructional leadership, collaborate with peers, and support school improvement.
