The Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) has received responses to the Digital Readiness Survey from participating facilities. Administered by DSS and distributed through provider association partners, the survey received responses from facilities representing 12 provider types across the state. Designed to help Missouri evaluate the digital readiness of facilities participating in the Rural Health Transformation Program, survey responses will inform the strategic allocation of digital infrastructure investments and technical assistance resources over the program’s five-year grant period. The survey findings will also support Missouri’s broader efforts to strengthen connectivity, interoperability, and information sharing across the healthcare ecosystem, allowing providers to better coordinate care and improve health outcomes statewide.
The Digital Readiness Survey Assessment Report summarizes participation and response rates by facility type and provides statewide and facility-level metrics across key digital readiness domains, including interoperability, cybersecurity, data governance, and advanced readiness capabilities. A total of 929 rural facilities responded to the survey. Statewide results indicate a strong foundation for digital health adoption, with 92.4% of responding facilities connected to an electronic health record (EHR) or clinical documentation system. At the same time, 33.8% of facilities reported connectivity to a Health Information Exchange (HIE), highlighting a significant opportunity to improve interoperability and data sharing across providers. Additionally, 30.8% of facilities reported piloting or deploying Ambient AI technologies, demonstrating growing adoption of innovative digital tools while indicating room for future expansion. The report also introduces the Digital Maturity Framework, which outlines how survey responses will guide the State’s distribution of funds to participating facilities.
Please note that the Digital Readiness Survey will be administered annually to measure year-over-year progress, provide facilities with an opportunity to update previously submitted information, and collect data from facilities that were unable to participate in earlier survey cycles.
