Missouri Department of Corrections sent this bulletin at 08/18/2026 09:58 AM CDTAug. 18, 2026
Corrections Team:
Yesterday, Governor Mike Kehoe announced that he has appointed me state budget director, effective Oct. 1, 2026. I am honored by the Governor’s faith in me and am looking forward to the next chapter of my service to state government and to the people of Missouri. At the same time, I will miss working with all of you — the most diligent, innovative and dedicated team in state government. I'm proud of what we have accomplished together, and I have faith that you will continue to do great work under new leadership.
Governor Kehoe also has named his nominee for my successor. Beginning Oct. 1, Deputy Director Valarie Moseley will assume the role of acting director of the Missouri Department of Corrections, pending confirmation by the Missouri State Senate. Since joining us in 2019, Deputy Director Moseley has proven to be an unmatched asset to the department, spearheading transformative initiatives and game-changing organizational improvements as assistant director for the Division of Human Services (DHS), as director of the Division of Offender Rehabilitative Services (DORS) and in her current role as deputy director of the department. I look forward to working closely with her and the rest of our executive team over the coming weeks as we make this transition.
We will keep you posted as we move ahead. Thank you again for your support for our team and your commitment to our mission of improving lives for safer communities. And as always, take care of each other.
Trevor Foley
Director, Missouri Department of Corrections
