IN2WORK provides program graduates the opportunity for internships, scholarships and employment with the company after release.

Dynamo project at NECC expands

Dynamo

The Department is expanding the Dynamo Community Experience (DCE) at Northeast Correctional Center.  This housing project is intended for maximum custody level offenders who have been incarcerated for several years, not had behavior problems, and still have several more years left to serve.  Housing is based on the Norway prison model: Community living that will enhance the resident's quality of life, Staff and residents treat each other with mutual kindness and respect, residents experience more ownership over their day to day schedule and activities, and staff take an active role in supporting residents in their daily life.  DCE provides long term, maximum security offenders who have demonstrated pro-social skills the opportunity to live in a less restrictive environment.  Privileges include independent living quarters, dayroom seating and community television, DVD player and movies available, use of appliances (washer, dryer, microwave, freezer/drink cooler) in the wing, secondary canteen and the option to paint their cell.  Any offender who is classified as maximum level may obtain an application, criteria for entry and information about the approval process from their case manager.  Participation is voluntary.

Angel Tree

Angel Tree gives parents in prison the opportunity to send a Christmas gift to their child(ren).

Prison Fellowship volunteers work with prison chaplains and local churches to buy, wrap and deliver presents to the child(ren). As long as prisoners are allowed access to their children, they are given the opportunity to apply for a gift to be sent to them.

Each gift is dispatched as though it is from the parent in prison and is accompanied by a personal message written by the parent for their child to make the gift extra special.

Angel Tree helps families connect and build relationships and provides children with much-needed joy.

Sign up occurs at correctional centers.  If your incarcerated loved one, has never participated, please encourage him or her to contact the chaplain at the correctional center for more information or to sign up.
