Get a Jump on Flu Season! October Flu Clinics Underway!

Dear Department of Corrections teammates:

As we continue to work our way through the COVID-19 pandemic, I am constantly amazed at the efforts of our Corrections teams. Your talents, skills, abilities and hard work have ensured that we are doing everything possible to protect our staff and offenders during this extraordinary time. Over the last six months, we have learned more about the virus and have evolved our strategies for protection and containment. None of this would have been possible without you!

During this unprecedented time, it is important that we continue to diligently and proactively take care of ourselves and each other. One easy way you can do this is by getting the flu vaccine. The best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated every year. Did you know that the flu vaccine can not only keep you from getting sick with the flu but also can reduce the risk of flu-associated hospitalization and reduce the severity of illness if you still get sick after being vaccinated? Bottom line: Getting vaccinated for the flu helps protect you, and it helps protect the people around you!

In an effort to make getting the flu vaccine as effortless as possible, the Department of Corrections offers flu vaccine clinics in October. Check the calendar of dates and locations for the clinics, and be sure to watch the staff newsletter for more details. If you have any questions about the vaccine, I encourage you to reach out to an employee health nurse (contact information below) or your physician.
