Dear families and friends:

Surveillance testing has identified new cases of COVID-19 at some Missouri Department of Corrections facilities. As a precaution, visiting is suspended at Moberly Correctional Center (MCC) in Moberly and Western Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center (WRDCC) in St. Joseph until further notice.

Visiting continues as scheduled at the following facilities only:

  • Algoa Correctional Center (ACC) in Jefferson City
  • Southeast Correctional Center (SECC) in Charleston
  • Kansas City Reentry Center (KCRC) in Kansas City - Friday through Sunday only

Visits must be scheduled in advance, and visitors must follow new guidelines. See details on our website: doc.mo.gov/programs/family-friends/visiting.

To contain the virus, the department has begun COVID-19 random sample testing, in which 10% of the population of each facility is tested, to help identify possible asymptomatic outbreaks. The department also continues to test offenders on intake, before release, before transfer, when symptoms are present, when an offender has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus, and when a case occurs in a confined work area or living space (boxed-in testing).

We understand that contact with loved ones is an essential component of strong families as well as successful reentry into the community, and we hope that you will continue to stay in touch through free Securus phone calls and JPay email messages until visiting can resume.

If you have a loved one in a Missouri Department of Corrections facility, please sign up to receive email or text alerts at public.govdelivery.com/accounts/MODOC/subscriber/new. Enter your email address or cell phone number, and select "Family & Friends" in the topics menu.

Thank you for your patience as we work to keep everyone safe.
