Dear families and friends:

Scheduled visiting at Chillicothe Correctional Center is CANCELED this week, July 2-5, in response to cases of COVID-19 at the prison. Visiting sessions will be suspended until further notice as the facility works to contain the spread of the virus.

Mass testing, or sentinel testing, of offenders and staff at Chillicothe Correctional Center, Algoa Correctional Center and South Central Correctional Center in early June revealed no cases of COVID-19 in those facilities. In response, the department opened limited visiting, with restrictions, at all three locations on June 25, for the first time since March 13.

This week, however, the department has received reports of three confirmed cases of the virus at Chillicothe Correctional Center and is now conducting further testing. Canceling visiting is necessary to protect public safety.

We understand that contact with loved ones is an essential component of strong families as well as successful reentry into the community, and we hope that you will continue to stay in touch through free Securus phone calls and JPay email messages until visiting can resume.

Visiting will continue as scheduled at Algoa Correctional Center in Jefferson City and South Central Correctional Center in Licking. Visits must be scheduled in advance, and visitors must follow new guidelines. See details on our website: doc.mo.gov/programs/family-friends/visiting.
