Town Hall Meeting Introduces Pilot Program to Boost Behavioral Health and Support Services for Missourians Released from Prison
(St. Joseph, MO) – On Friday, Nov. 30, the Missouri Department of Corrections will hold a town hall meeting to introduce a new pilot program designed to shrink the prison population, boost access to treatment, and improve public safety. Launched in Boone, Buchanan and Butler counties in a collaboration between Missouri’s Department of Corrections and Department of Mental Health, the Justice Reinvestment Treatment Pilot provides comprehensive community-based services to people under DOC supervision who have serious substance addictions. The program evolved from House Bill 1355, which was signed into law June 1.
