Missouri Department of Natural Resources Missouri Risk-Based Corrective Action (MRBCA) Revision Information Update

This email is to inform you that the Department of Natural Resources’ Hazardous Waste Program will be updating the Tier 1 Risk-Based Target Levels, or RBTLs, found in the departmental Missouri Risk-Based Corrective Action, or MRBCA, guidance document.  We anticipate that the initial draft updated RBTLs will be available by the end of 2013. After the draft updated RBTLs are available, the department will facilitate a 60-day public comment period during which stakeholders will have an opportunity to review and provide comment to the department regarding the RBTLs as well as the input values and methodology used to develop them.  We anticipate that final RBTLs will be in place in the spring or early summer of 2014.

Since 2006, when the RBTLs were initially published, the Environmental Protection Agency has updated the toxicity data for some chemicals and has revised the methodology used to develop target levels for certain types of chemicals. We will update the RBTLs using this current data and methodology.
