MO Board of Pharmacy Statement on Ivermectin

The office has received questions/concerns from licensees regarding the increase in ivermectin prescriptions to treat/prevent COVID-19.   The Board does not have a position on ivermectin at this time, however, licensees may use their discretion when asked to fill any prescription they believe is questionable/not issued for a legitimate medical purpose.  Please be advised, however, the FDA issued consumer guidance in March 2021 confirming that the FDA has not approved ivermectin for use in treating or preventing COVID-19 in humans.
