Can a patient opt-out of having their COVID-19 vaccine reported to ShowMeVax?

No. HHS’ Declaration requires licensees to report COVID-19 vaccines to ShowMeVax.  The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has confirmed that patients may not opt out of having their COVID-19 vaccination reported to ShowMeVax.  CDC requires all COVID-19 vaccinations to be reported within 24 hours. See ShowMeVax’s website for ShowMeVax registration information.

From the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services:

Action Required: ShowMeVax Legacy Feed will Discontinue on January 31, 2021

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services reached out to vaccinators in late October and follow up calls since with an invitation to interface with the enhanced ShowMeVax, Missouri’s Immunization Information System. If you have not taken steps to continue exchanging vaccination data, be advised that the current legacy ShowMeVax feed will discontinue on January 31, 2021. Therefore, all providers wishing to continue exchanging vaccination data with the enhanced ShowMeVax will need to onboard, by registering. If you have any questions, reach out.
