First Hand Foundation
SHCN Family Partners want to share a resource that may help families of children and youth who have complex medical needs and/or who are deaf and hard of hearing. First Hand Foundation is a nonprofit in Missouri that gives grants to help pay for medical costs that insurance or other programs do not fully cover.
These grants can help pay for things like medical equipment, therapies, hearing devices, adaptive equipment, travel for medical care, and other important services that support a child’s health and daily life.
Kristan Gutierrez, the Northwest SHCN Family Partner, received this grant for her daughter. The First Hand Foundation helped pay for an intensive occupational and physical therapy program. This support helped their family get important therapy services and reduced financial stress.
